An Optical Network Terminal (ONT) is the hardware that is necessary for provisioning of FTTU Triple Play services (Voice, video and Data) at customer premises. Nayatel offers following 3 models of Alcatel ONT (Optical Network Terminal) for establishing Fiber-To-The-User (FTTU) connection at customer premises.
POTS, Ethernet, and RF video in general signify the service output of Triple play services via ONT (Optical Network Terminal). Each terminology highlights following service variant.
POTS: Telephone
Ethernet: Internet/Data services
RF video: Cable TV
Plain old telephony System, or POTS, is a term which describes the voice-grade telephony service that remains the basic form of residential and small business service connection to the telephone network nearly everywhere in the world. Each number of POTS in your ONT model shows the number of telephone lines you can have to avail our telephony service.
Ethernet defines a number of signaling standards for the physical layer. Ethernet Ports in ONT (Optical Network Terminal) are meant to provide you with connectivity to Internet/voice/E 1’s, and Metro Ethernet Data Network. An RJ 45 connector is connected to both ends of UTP cable and acts as a path to connect your ONT with the system.
RF Video signifies the video output from your ONT (Optical Network Terminal) to your television to provide you with Cable TV service.
